General Electric Release First U.S Manufactured Hybrid Electric Water Heater

Geospring from General Electric (GE) is the first hybrid electric water heater to be manufactured in the U.S.

The multinational company advertised the opening of their brand new manufacturing facility for the product at the beginning of February during the Superbowl and at the end of the week; the site was opened with great anticipation of busy times.

The Geospring has been approved by the government supported ENERGY STAR label, showing both quality of product and energy efficiency are present in the hybrid heater.  The electric water heater has the ability to cut back on billions of CO2 emissions annually as well as decreasing the average cost of heating bills considerately in each household.

With American people spending a reported average of $520 on their utility bills from traditional water heating systems, the Geospring is capable of saving them $325 each year, costing only $195 to run over the same time span.

GE uses the science of a heat pump to move heat from one place to another.  In this case, the heater extracts heat from the surrounding air and moves it into the water.  Because the water gains most of its heat from a natural resource, lower levels of electricity are used to run the Geospring.

Should consumers wish to change their current heating methods from the conventional water heaters to the hybrid Geospring heater, the task couldn’t be easier.  GE has manufactured the Geospring to take the same amount of space as the traditional water heaters to make for hassle free installation.  The amount of water held in both types of heaters is the same, so consumers will not feel as though they are sacrificing anything at all in the changeover.

GE is confident that the American public will love the savings to be had with the Geospring as well as the conscientious decision to cut down on harmful emissions.
